My guess is the US version is censored in some fashion. Even if that's the case it isn't enough to ruin a game of FFT's calibre.

Been playing Tactics for a short time now,
didnt have a clue wot was going on at first!!
Played a save file for 6 hours and everything started to click!!
Started again with the knowledge of how to get around the Menus and Battles etc. . .

Falling in love with Tactics the more I play it!!!
