Interesting Random Battles You`ve Had

I was playing the PS version just last night, and had a really interesting battle scenario appear on the river map. (The one where you fight a group of chocobos in the 4th chapter.)

On one side was a group of 5 lvl 60ish Behemoths being led by a Pisco Demon, facing off against a group of 2 lvl 40ish Bull Demons and a lvl 40ish Goblin. Guess which group where the guests? lol

I was just doing some leveling up, so I didn`t have my best group together for this battle. I had Mustadio as a Chemist with a Blaze Gun.

I had just gotten Muliadol and her Mighty Sword is useless against monsters, so her only way to inflict damage was to attack.

I had also just gotten Reis, but she at least has those breath attacks.

My two best units for this fight were Agrias, with Blade Grasp and Draw Out, and Beowolf, with weapon guard and a good variety of Magic Sword skills. (He managed to turn 3 of those Behemoths into chickens. hahaha)

It was a long battle, but I managed to get through with no criticals, thanks in large part to Mustadio`s X-Potions and Agrias being able to shell and protect everyone with Draw Out. It was a nice surprise to get such a tough battle.

So, what sort of surprisese have you all gotten? Good or bad? Interesting battles? Let me know!

I was once watching my friend fight the end boss. Two of his guys were dead, the others were doing ok, and one got turned into a frog. As he was fighting I said "you know it'd be funny if the frog killed him". A few turns later the frog's turn came, he attacked and did 14 damage, and then the end boss let out his death cry. We laughed a good bit afterwards. Quite a funny incident.

My response: I think Targos's fate hinges on how much Shawford can pay us from the Targos treasury.

That's hilarious. Was that FF Tactics Advance? I don't recall the final boss in FF Tactics turning characters into frogs, but I haven't fought that battle in years, so I simply may have forgotten.

No it was FFT. I forget what he used to turn the character into a frog. Like you I haven't played that battle in years but I wouldn't forget something as strange as that.

LOL Gren, something similar happened to me actually. Maybe this topic should be in the Kalm Inn and focused more on FF in general?

Yeah, considering that no one seems to have any specific FFT random battles to talk about. I just found that the FFT game gives some really challenging random battles from time to time and wanted to see if anyone had any specific ones they remembered. It seems they don`t. Oh well.

I don't think there are many Tactics fans here, its more FFVII people. I only played some of the Advance and didn't like it much.

I really like the original Final Fantasy Tactics it is just as good as Final Fantasy VII. In my opinion Final Fantasy Tactics Advance sucks. On the note of interesting random battles I guess it would be the one where like 20-30 monks appear that one is crazy.

I played tactics on ps and i thought it was pretty good, i had a problem with it that the creatures leveled faster than i could manage. I died alot so I have not yet beaten it. I hope to go back to it some day over the summer.

Yeah, you got to be patient and cross the map looking for random battles, particularly in the beginning. There are lots of tricks you can do to get extra exp.
One good early trick is when you are assured victory, have your own soldiers attack each other from behind to ensure a hit. When you have time magic, slowing and stopping enemies makes this much easier. You can revive enemies over and over to get in extra hits if you have the money for phoenix downs or a good mage with a life spell.

Slowing and stopping monsters is also really important to use the move-find ability in the later part of the game, or also stealing good and rare equipment.
