Is hip hop and R&B Overrated? In my opinion i think hip hop and r&b are overrated
the music sounds terrible. there's the machines to make it look like they can sing real good until you here them live in places that are not equipped with these machines. you got rappers that rap but cant even explain what they are rapping
about. there's no originality. so called new songs but wait that song was written back in the 70s or 80s or the beat. you got guys that talked with deep voices but when hear them sing they they sound like they're crying like a baby. and there's the thug life and being a gangsta bid all hear is bling bling, thug life, being a gangsta, smoking weed, and let's get crunked. then there is the seen when these guys get in trouble with the law probably for something 90% of the time they do anyway and then they put on a scene when they have their wives or husbands clutchin their children in their arms like they are a loving mother or father.
you got the young women all they do is shake thier butts in front of the men can't sing but they got the curves. then there is rappers vs rappers (beef). some of rappers are racist and sexist. they got the women wearing rags and shaking their butts and being called words that i wouldn't even say. and there are ladies that are being fed up with that stuff. R&B music sucks now take away the machines and let's get some real singers male and female

Re: Is hip hop and R&B Overrated? I don't listen to hip hop or R&B in general but i'm thinking all music 'out there' is starting to get repetitive, especially all the music that's popular and heard by lots of people and copied, because they care more about the lifestyles involved with whatever then the music itself.

I don't listen to THAT much, but I do listen to quite a bit of R&B.
But I will admit that I think R&B are a little overrated. =/

Re: Is hip hop and R&B Overrated? Those two fields of music aren't really my favourites. I'm more into rock, particularly classic rock. Funnily enough, these genres are quite prominent at the moment.
But in all honesty, I don't mind them that much. Some artists are quite talented or have a good sound. I won't deny finding D12's "My Band" hilarious. Rubbish music is still rubbish though, and 50 Cent's 'Candy Shop' made me want to take out a hit on his life.

Now Hip Hop, definitely.
I agree, R&B can be good but its a bit over rated. I like all sorts of music really(I'd give anything a chance, although I'd know pretty soon whether I'd like it or not). I prefer Rock too.
Re: Is hip hop and R&B Overrated? I'm predominately a metal fan, but I like a little bit of everything, the closest thing to hiphop and R&B that I ever got into were ICP when I was 14 or 15 and then Nekro who I still like, mainly for comedic purposes. R&B and Soul can be good if you listen to the actual music it can even be relaxing or calming depending on who you are listening to, I could listen to Alicia Keys play piano all day to be honest I consider her a good pianist for modernday mainstream music. However I tend to lead toward classical and traditional music for things like that.

Re: Is hip hop and R&B Overrated? I'm not particularly a fan of R&B and hip hop, but alot of my friends are into it. My brothers also, so it tends to blasted through out my house. >_>
I dislike most of it, some of the older stuff my bro has I will admit is ok...Some of the original R&B stars where very good, but I suppose we tend to refer to them as jazz singers now as they all started off with Jazz...
As for hip hop, I've yet to find anyone I actually like. I'm more of a Rock fan, but I'll give most things a chance, I'll at least listen before I decide I hate it.
