Can someone who's played this game, please tell me if its worth getting? FF12 is coming out here in 2 weeks, I for one think it looks amazing (apart from Vaan looking a bit too girly for a main character, but looks aren't important ).
How good is this game?
Does it match the same greatness as the previous games?
Is the story really that bad?
Is there not much to the characters, no past stories?
Re: Can someone who's played this game, please tell me if its worth getting? Story-wise, it is much like Final Fantasy Tactics, more centered on political intrigue than love and romance.
I really like the story and i also quite like the battle system.

Re: Can someone who's played this game, please tell me if its worth getting? I hated FF Tactics, but I only played Tactics Advance. I hardly saw a story, just going around fighting, it was boring..
Are the characters lacking though? Is there much on them in the game?
I hope I'd like it too, but my favourite thing about FF games is the story and characters. I also don't like the online style battles, prefer the original. And I hate Politics, so I doubt I'd like it?
Re: Can someone who's played this game, please tell me if its worth getting? I think it has more general characterization than FFVIII, myself, but if you are looking for a love story, then this one isn't for you.
When I said that this was told like Final Fantasy Tactics, I was referring to the original one. HOwever, all of the characters here are more fully drawn out and have more of a story than in Tactics. They have dreams, aspirations and goals, but they are caught up in a clash of Empiral Empires and that is the main driving focus of the story. THere is little in the part of characterization outside of the main theme, unless you take time to do the sidequests, and in this sense, it is more like traditional Final Fantasy.

Hmm, well I'm not bothered whether it has a love story or not, that doesn't automatically make an RPG better than another. However, do you mean to say the characters don't have any back stories whatsoever in the storyline? It's all about the present?
I wouldn't like that, I'd want to know more about the characters I'm playing with. If you don't, you wouldn't really get concerned or care for them as much. Know where I'm getting at? I guess they're trying to make it more fast-paced or something and all about sidequests. Ahh I hope the game isn't mainly about sidequests! Otherwize it'll be like another version of FFX-2!
Maybe I'm being too negative on it.. I'll have to see for myself.
Re: Can someone who's played this game, please tell me if its worth getting? They all have a backstory, just as much as in any other Final Fantasy. What I am saying is that there isn't much emphasis on scenes that focus entirely on interpersonal relationships outside of the main storyline. You know why they are where they are and what they are doing in the story from the beginning, and there are twists and turns as you go on . Sorry to be vague, but I'm trying to do this in a way that doesn't give away the story.

Re: Can someone who's played this game, please tell me if its worth getting? I appreciate that thanks, I've just been reading reviews so that's why I'm doubting how good the characters and story are.

That's a bit of a shame, but if the rest is good like you say it should make up for it.
