Pangaea, do you believe in the theory?

Well after being in the National History Museum, it made me think more about the past and the Earth..

I have always believed, even as a young child that the continents of the world were once joined. Who else believes this theory? My sister doesn't emoticon emoticon

There's so much evidence supporting this theory, that its almost proven really!

1) The continents look like they could be fitted together like a jigsaw puzzle
2) Matching fossils have been found in Africa and South America showing that they must have been close to eachother or joined
3) Structures of rocks in South West Africa and South East Brazil were identical, and the age of the rocks are the same
4) Coal can be found underneath the Antarctic ice cap, though coal can only form in warm and wet conditions. This could mean that Antarctica was once together with the other continents as part of the Pangaea

After the meteor came down, the continents started drifting apart.. What do you think?

Pang what!? What sort of blasphemy is this??? The Bible says god created the Earth not Pangaea. I'm surprised you'd believe something so ridiculous.

Enter seriousness: Yeah I believe in the theory. Of course I don't really know too much about it but I trust in the same process that has given us the computer I am now typing on. The best part is that even if the theory turns out to be false and new evidence is unearthed to prove it, the books will be rewritten to reflect that change. There won't be any "I refuse to get rid of my old belief despite the large quantities of evidence disproving it"

Actually its pretty interesting. Its kinda weird to imagine one giant landmass without any huge oceans separating the continents. Just out of curiosity why doesn't yer sister believe it?

My response: I think Targos's fate hinges on how much Shawford can pay us from the Targos treasury.

Lol, yeah exactly if it was proven false then I wouldn't believe it. Where as religion on the other hand, they will believe and stand by their religion no matter what evidence proves it wrong! Small minded-ness.

I can't imagine it either, funny to think how it would be now if it was like that.

My sister didn't really say anything else, just that she doesn't think its true. I don't take opinions seriously anyway if people don't back it up by anything. emoticon

mmmm.... ok i´ve to say that i beleive in the theory of one giant land mass... but u must understand that no religion is to understand it exactly like it says (i don´t think i´m been clear)....
the bible, for example, is written for childrens!!!... but the real interpretation is completly different that the things it says...
From my point of view, u got to understand that the people create religion to answer those questions that doesn´t have an answer.... u´ve to think that the religion and the science are made to complement one to each other....
i don´t believe in god exactly, but i believe that there´s someone up there that knows mre than us... and i believe that he didn´t create the earth one day to another, but he could help with the big bang...at least that´s what i think...

That's the thing though, if there was something up there(that you think its a 'he' much like people tend to believe emoticon..) what created that? And what created what created the creator? It doesn't make sense! I think in the begining it was completey black, everything is always black when theres nothing. Then I think gradually things started forming by itself untill we have what we have today, its mad I know but then everyone's theories are mad. We'll just never know. emoticon Would be kool to know something created us all. emoticon

Its a logical theory, and theres a lot to back it up, scientifically theres no real reason for anyone to object to it right now. If anyone has proof against it, I'd like to hear it once that proof doesn't involve God or Jesus or something to that extent.....

exactly... we´ll just never know... if u think that at the beginning everything was black with nothing created... where the hell came the first thing to be created??? this is something endless, a question without an answer... and that´s what religion tries to explain, giving strange solutions to questions that we can´t answer

Yeah, well um something very small must have came about and it just kept getting bigger and bigger. Like evolution, things just kept changing. But yeah, it doesn't really make sense. No point in even trying to think about it! emoticon
