Unlike the British, the US has culinary culture WORTH getting passionate about. =P
Bear in mind that main reason he could face a heavy penalty is that not only is he a repeat offender, but he allegedly assaulted the store clerk on the way out. It seems a bit much in the context though.

Secunda: "Did someone just say 'weeaboo?' Because I heard someone say 'weeaboo'."

Re: Man goes to prison for stealing a donut Wb Mark, where've you been?
Its a bit silly how because hes a repeat offender he should be put away for that long after stealing a donut and pushing someone out the way(if thats true). Yet he'd have been let off if he hadn't have done anything previously... It is too much.
(Maybe one of the cops had the donut after arresting him. )

LOL American food isn't really worth getting THAT passionate about either. < link Although I do like American food! I don't really like English food that much(can be quite bland) I like Fish and Chips though. Btw, what's typical of Australian food? =P (I think I'll make a seperate topic for this). xD
Re: Man goes to prison for stealing a donut It seems rather harsh and unneassary to pass such a chrage on anybody. There are far simpler tasks in dealing with re-offenders with out giving drastic jail terms.

Its down to the pivetal change in our whole society. Our nation has started to pick up the trend of giving up trationally cooking, instead they now rely on fast-foods to substiute as there meals.
Quick and lazy not so benifical.
Also the brits want more forgien food in the country which has brought about more forgien restranunts. The nation has a demand for indian, chinese, tai etc. Which is completly ironic because all of the forgien food in briatin is no where near the same as if you where to THOSE countries.
I find it quite sad because we have more forgien restranunts rather than our own. I try and imagine how the tourists feel traveling into our country wanting to sample our native cusine only to find forgien food from other countries.

Re: Man goes to prison for stealing a donut From what i know foreign restaurants aren't just a hugely popular thing in Britain and America, lots of other countries have a wide variety of restaurants to go to along with local types...
If your in a main city in Britain your bound to find lots of indians and chinese take-outs, ect, but i think our true local stuff is in the countryside with the lil pubs and stuff, and i don't think many tourists go out to those areas..
... that was a really petty crime though.
Wonder if someone who stole something like gold or money would get the same amount of jail time...

God, we just make ourselves look even more like dumbasses everyday.. don't we? -___-
Well......no comment.
America has always had a tough approach to stamping on crime. I think briatian should have a more aggressive approach and give out heaver jail sentence's. In britain there was a person who murdered a father and only served 8 years for it. Not to mention because of all this human rights bullsh.it over here they get almost anything they want in jail. Pool tables, direct medical treatment while others on the outside have to wait at least 6 months or so before reciving any.
What annoyed me was in hospital you have to pay for ski-tv but in prison they get it for free.
Its gone completly mad over here in britain. As my father said its all going down the !@#$.ter.

Re: Man goes to prison for stealing a donut That really is crazy..
But of course people in prison whine about the way they are treated.
They don't really have a right too, depending on what they are in there for.
HA! I didn't see the picture Zeen linked.
When I saw it.. I went "Ooo! Corndog!" though.. xD
That, the pizza, and the fries (if that's whats in the Mcdonalds container) are the only things that appeal to me. (And maybe the fried chicken, if that's... even what that is.. >___>)
The rest looks so.. gross.
I think what I said is true.
Most of the time we really are just making ourselves look even MORE stoopid.
I'm surprised that's even still possible sometimes..

Eh not really. We've had plenty of cases where someone gets arrested for murder and we later find out he has a rap sheet the size of college textbook. Overall I think its alright here but there is always room for improvement.
