posticon Trains

I dunno about you, but over here and America alot of people have been messing about on the rail way tracks. Well teenagers obviously.

It's on the news here showing a teenage boy jumping onto a track and just escaping the train just to record it on a mobile/cell phone. If he had been half a second late, him and alot of people on the train would have died or got seriously hurt. Why risk your life for something so stupid? And the lives of others for that matter? This worries me because I go on trains from time to time and something should be done, really.

There are even little children blocking the tracks with stuff.

What does everyone think about this?

Yeah its quite stupid. The problem with this is how do you monitor thousands of miles of tracks???
I know a lot of teens over here that live by railways will put various coins on the tracks, and when the train runs by it'll squash and flatten until you can't recognize it anymore. Stuff like that is probably harmless but eventually it'll lead to them putting bigger things on the tracks just to see what happens, and then you have a derailment. Another problem is not only will people be hurt, but what if the train is a freight train??? I remember in Baltimore a train hauling chemicals got derailed in a tunnel underneath the City and caught fire. Just imagine all the noxious chemicals burning underneath the city and slowly finding their way to the surface. Needless to say that was a mess.
Perhaps some sort of track patrol unit should be formed to run up and down portions of the tracks making sure they are clear. That of course would require a hike in taxes.

My response: I think Targos's fate hinges on how much Shawford can pay us from the Targos treasury.

Re: Trains

Theres something like that here in the UK, which is one of the factors which keeps the quality of the rail service at a low. Not all rail services are used; which has led to most of the UK stations actualy closing down, there used to be one in every town, even small ones but they cant maintain it as not many people go on them. ( Interest is starting to pick up, and some rural to urban lines are going to be reopened ).

Strikes, low quality staff, lack of staff, bad quality and constant replacement of rails, and the occassional accident has all played parts in keeping the UK rail service tacky, so ends up very costly.

The security that monitors the rails suffer as well, and arent able to sort out or get to possible accidents in time.

Re: Trains

Over here we have a train station for almost every town, but I guess thats because they're frequently used.

Hey Mike, this may be going off-topic but its still about trains. On the Great Western they've added like tv's and gaming systems in a room, but you have to pay to use them.

If you think about it, yes it is stupid, but there can be some more vouluntary reasons to do so then a mobile phone like a life or what not.
