Sabin had a good variety of attacks, but his magic power wasn't too great. However, he was by far my favorite attacker. Bum Rush just owns.
I also like Cyan, especially if you give him the quick spell so that the time wait on his more powerful sword techniques becomes inconsequential.
Terra is good, especially if she has the atma weapon and that accessory that lets her cast two spells in one round. Use Quick, then 3 ultimas and an osmos spell to finish the chain makes her super powerful damage-wise.
If you can get the cat scratch for Gau, you can do nearly 4000 damage per hit with him.
Edgar is great, too, with his tools, and they're mostly guaranteed to work.
Give the Scmitar to Celes, and she can get instant kills, plus still use her Rune Blade, and she's powerful with magic, too.
Setzer, with the fixed dice and the accessory that lets you attack 4 times in a round, can do up to 39996 damage in a single turn. (4 hits of 9999)
There's all kinds of cool things to do in this game, that's why it's so fun.
