Review a Game

Write your game reviews here.
Today I will review ESPN NBA Basketball 2K5
Image
(Available for the PS2 and XBOX)

Graphics - 9/10
The graphics we're really impressive. Very similar to last years, but some minor changes. All the players looked freakishly similar to their real life counter parts. The only reason they dont get a 10 is because in the street and 24/7 Mode, the players looked kinda plastic (almost like action figures)

Sound - 7/10
Bill Walton and some guy I can't remember provide the commentary. Their always on the spot with action and give you good info. The audience provides realistic sounds and you can hear all the in-game sound effects like shoes squeaking, the ball bouncing, and the rim shaking. The soundtrack sucks though. It's comprised of a bunch of no-name rappers. The songs are lame, repetitive, and they all sound the same.

Game Play - 9/10
What it all boils down to. You'll notice it feels different if you've played the previous game. That's because of a new motion system that is very realistic. The animations are great, and the controls are tight. This year's game is kinda similar to NBA Live, especially with the addition of the pro hop. The biggest flaws are rebounding and passing. The ball seems to go right through your hands. And the passes are thrown low and can get picked off easily. You'll face a lot of controller throwing situations cause of that.

Overall - 8.5/10

Killzone, PS2 ONLY

Graphics - 9/10
Well, I must say, they arent the best graphics, but my god are they wondeful. You feel liek you really are that random guy with a gun in the middle of war. I will admit, Halo 2 has better graphics, but then again, so does another PS2 only title named GOD OF WAR.

Story - 8/10
War, huh, good god. WHat is it good for? Absolutly nothing. Sign it again yea! Alright, my singing sucks, but thats about it. War, like so many other games. Not really orignal, but it does have a nice internal conflict story hidden withoin. Is war really black and white? or is there more to it?

Sound 10/10
When u use a granade, YOU USE A GRANADE. The sounds in this game, both music and actual weapon sounds are brillaint and completly realistic.

Controls 9/10
People say PS2 isnt ment for FPS (First Person SHooters) but i disagree. PS2 handles this one bueatifully. The only down side is... NO JUMP BUTTON....

Replay Value = Great
With story mode having 4 usable charcters and so many weapons to use, its always fun to go back and try out different tacics and characters.

Overall 10/10
This game is amazing and handles online gameplay well. I have never experienced lag and when u have a full 16 person death match, things get crazy. I think this game is the best FPS, and I even give it the title "Halo Killer"

Red Dead Revolver (Available for the PS2 and X-Box

Graphics - 7/10
At times they're impressive, other times they aren't very good. The character models look kinda crappy, but the environments are very good.

Sound - 6.5/10
Nothing to rave about. The music is appropriate for the era, but it doesn't stand out. The voice acting is decent.

Gameplay - 8.5/10
This game controls beautifully it uses a FPS control scheme in a 3rd Person game. It works perfect, and you'll never get frustrated. A custom control scheme would be appreciated though. The Story Mode is the main focus of the game. You play as Red a bounty hunter trying to get even with the outlaws who killed his parents. But during the game you'll encounter other playable characters. There's also a Showdown multi-player mode. It's extremely fun, and Ive found myself playing it alone against the computer, but with some friends it's an absolute blast.

Overall 9/10
It's original, it's addictive, give it a shot. (Get it? "Shot", it's called Red Deads Revolver, ha ha ha I crack myself up)

Graphics - 10/10
Absolutly beautiful graphics, the game used the PS2's full potential in graphic capability. Character detail is amazing, scenary is fantastic.

Story - 9/10
Story is very complex and interesting. Keeps you interested throughout the entire game, theres a new twist all the time. However the downside is some gamers might be confused with the complex story.

Sound 10/10
Just as the graphics, the sound in the game is great. The Music is amazing and created just to fit the feel of a real movie.

Controls 10/10
Controls are very decent, unlike the previous title. We now have easier controls with weapons and the first person-shooter view is a great improvement.

Replay Value = Excellent
There are so many items to collect and difficulty levels to complete, you'll want to play again and again just so you can get everything. The cutscenes are fantastic and the way the game is done so realistcly like an actual event makes you interested to replay it over and over. There are also added extras after you complete the game.

Overall 10/10

Vagrant Story (PS1) - Square

An rpg from the makers of FF T and FF XII, this game was sadly not meant to be, for it was forced to release on time. Some parts of the game wasnt finished, and they ended up having to cut bits out just so the game worked. The released version, as one of the staff mentions in a rare interview, is only 40% of the intended final game.

It is however, still a good RPG, its more PC styled though, theres no towns or people, just dungeons. Its not fantastic, you'll either like it or hate it, using a semi-real time action battle system, with customisable weapons and armour. Theres crossbows, swords, axes, clubs, polearms and staffs to collect and forge.

The Storyline is based on a "Riskbreaker", a special forces guy that does near-impossible missions. He has issues though, all the sides are trying to make him believe things, and he doesnt know who to believe.

Graphics: 7/10-late PS1 graphics, looks abit like FF IX, but abit less quality. People look abit funny, but other than that it flows well, there are lots of moving parts and animations. Well done, but pixelated. Some people complain the colours are too dark too, but they seemed ok on my TV.

Story: Varied/10 The story is only as good as your attention. Due to the reduced game, it feels sometimes later in the game that you skipped abit, or you might forget stuff that happens earlier. Because the game is dungeon-based, most of the dialog is at the beginning and end, occasionaly between going in new areas, and before boss fights against other humans. Its a facinating story though, but you might need to replay it. Slightly political, but is mostly "using dark magic" based.

Characters: 8/10 Goes with the story really. Theres only about 20-30 named characters in the whole game, which keeps things simple. Could have done with more dialog, but again, their only as good as you pay attention to. They can act abit dull sometimes, but you have to remember the characters arent a bunch of 16 year olds trying to save the world. If you like more serious games where they dont break out into song, dance, or start forming rock groups *ahem* FF 8, FF 10-2 *cough* then you'll like this.

Sound: 6/10 Not fantastic, it doesnt have anything that truely "bursts out", most of its calm, repetitive but not amazingly annoying to go with the constant dungeons.

Gameplay: 8/10 is nice, customisation is good, game is full of mazes. However it suffers from "doors you cant open till later", and later in the game you need to retrace your steps. Bosses however are pants usualy, till later in the game when they have more resistance to weapon type/magic defence. The chain combo system lets you kill bosses earlier in the game without being hit emoticon.

Controls: 9/10 Nice controls, flows easily.

Replay: 7/10 Some areas cant be reached till second playthrough. Might need to replay to get the full storyline, it helps fully understand it. You get your old equipment, items and spells, which helps, and becomes slightly more fun later in the game knowing you dont have to build your equipment and stats up.

Overall: 8/10 Be warned, its not everyones cup of tea. This is a more serious plot-lined game, its reasonably long, only cause of the ammount of dungeons. Younger people might not quite understand the storyline, hell, even older people dont get it sometimes. The game is well done, every character has meaning, but alot of them suffer from under-character development, and you can only just get their personalities from the little speech they do.

Dino Crisis 2 - Playstation

Graphics - Pretty good. The FMV sequences are absolutely brilliant. Loved them.

Story - The story kept you interested, as you had to keep on changing in between two characters. Also, the plot is very well done. It has a twist in it and the end is just brilliant. There is a time where you will get a bit tired of shooting dinosaur after dinosaur, but I think that the storyline makes up for that. There are certain sequences which I would hate to replay again, but I played the game twice, so it's bearable.

Characters - There were only two main characters; Dylan and Regina. Dylan stood out more, but they both kept the game going.

Sound - Can't remember much about the sound, but I think it suited the atmosphere of the game.

Replay - I think it'd be a good idea to play it again, because after the game is finished, you get to play a bonus round and getting weapons depends on how many points you had from the playing of the game.

Overall - 10/10
I just loved this game. It's one of my favourites.

Halo PC

This, in my opinion (And most of the worlds) is the best FPS. Ever. Period. Games like CS:S and Half-Life come pretty close, I must admit.

Graphics: This game looks awesome graphics wise! I wish I had a decent GFX card in my laptop to play it out to its full potential. The luscious grass, to the textural cliffs, the bullet holes in the walls.. small details like this make this game beautiful. 9/10 The better the GFX card the better the framerate and nicer the textures.

Storyline:

What's one way a game really gets your attention? Aside from the obvious (eye-popping graphics, great gameplay, tons of eye candy, cool sounds, rocking tunes, fun factor, etc.), there's something else, and it's the result of dozens of details and seemingly unrelated features: the suspension of disbelief.

Anyone creating a story works hard to develop something so good that disbelief is suspended for the time you're within the world of that story. That suspension provides the audience with a sense of "reality" within the fictional world of the game/movie/book. Countless little details all work together to help create that world into something both interesting and believable. 9/10

Halo creates a reality within a fiction, and it's compelling. The story, the physics, the weapons, and AI all retain enough of a sense of realism to really draw you into the world that game developer Bungie creates. 9/10

Characters: Master Chief, Cortana.. Covenant.. what more could you possibly want!?? But apart from characters you get to control veichles! This is innovation in video games! Flying around in a banshee pwning everyone whilst they all shout "n0000b!!" back at you. *Sniff* Its beautiful. Running down people in a warhog, firing banshees out of the sky in a Scorpion, zipping around in a ghost.. you cant beat that sensation. 9/10

Sound: Halo takes care of all the minor details. For example, birds singng YES you can hear birds singing! How cool is that? The way sniper shots whistle past you. Wooo! Wooooo! And as you dodge you hear your footsteps on that beautiful gravel.. Oh yes, Halo has kick-ass sound. 10/10

Gameplay: People who've played Halo multiplayer online will know what I'm talking about here. Huge array of weapons and veichles... people lurking in the shadows shooting down those who respawn until being snipered themselves.. Banshees, shot down by the opposition, only to fall on them, killing them in its wake. When you're one of the best (like me) you can feel the Halo spirit inside you. Your palms are sweaty.. You look around.. a sniper is watching you.. you dont know where... you run around nervously.. pistol in hand.. they fire at you only to miss! You jump out of the way, following the stream from their gun, aim at them and then its BOOM HEADSHOT 10/10

Controls: On Halo PC... aiming with your mouse is brilliant! You can get so much accuracy.. it outdoes the Xbox version by far 10/10

Overall: Once you have played this (multi player especially) you will realise this is possibly the greatest game ever made. You will be hooked for months.. Unlike games like Kill-Zone. Dubbed 'Halo Beater' by Sony. I have this game, and it makes me bored. Yes. It sucks. It even has a crappy Sniper gun! Halo is far better! Riding around in veichles shooting n00bs. Brilliant weapons, its.. beautiful. Like the famous quote:

" The only thing better than Halo is Final Fantasy and maybe sex too."

Halo is an awesome game. Getting into a clan or forming your own, and then battling it out in tournaments! Capturing the flag.. Slaying.. its brilliant! 11/10

Twisted Metal Black, Playstation2 ONLY

Story 10/10

Lol this game has the best storys, and many of them, you have to the game to the character to unlock a movie of the person, Prolouge, Middle, End all about the character and why he went to an asylum..

Controls 8/10

Good controls you just need time to get used to them, with use of both analogs and like all of the other buttons this game pulls of an amazing controller

Sound 7/10

Much like Halo with the music is just randomly turns on, but the sounder affects are good, sometimes it overloads though but realistic

Gameplay 9/10

Perfect gameplay nice and fast and difficult this isn't your normal easy frogger game if your not moving you been blown into another car, Also Almost ALL of the enviroment is animated, you shoot at something its going to blow up or fall over..Also 8 level tos fight through until you finish it with 2 very difficult bosses and every time you beat a boss you unlock the next partof the persons story

Graphics 10/10

This game has awesome animation with great use of CGI for the movies matching FFX in my opinion,

Replay Value = Excellent

With several different characters including a few unlockable characters you been playing this game for hours.

Overall 7/10
